The history of the Tunisian orthopaedics began in 1964 with the professors Mohamed Taieb KASSAB and Moncef DARGHOUTH.
It was necessary to wait on May 24th, 1985 so that the SOTCOT organizes its first national congress and sets up their 1st office with as president founder the Professor KASSAB.
Since its creation, the SOTCOT organizes regularly scientific meetings and since 2008, it publishes a baptized scientific journal "Tunisie orthopédique".

Created in December, 2001 by Hichem BAHRI, rich in its experience within the Tunisian Society of Orthopaedic and Traumatological Surgery, the Tunisian Society of Surgery of the Hand is since its creation a space of meeting of the specialists of the domain of the hand that they are orthopedists, rheumatologists, neurologists…
The main objectives of the STCM are:
Tighten the links between the surgeons of the hand, both on personal and professional plan.
Contribute to the scientific and technical progress of members in surgery of the hand and to the research in this domain.
Defend interests of members.
Collaborate with foreign countries in this domain.
AWISO is a free working group on locked Osteosynthesis.
They are a scientific group that has the aim to establish research of locked implants for osteosynthesis and endoprosthesis and to develop these further.
The group was founded on the 8th of February, 2005 in Hamburg/ Germany, initiated by Professor Dr. D. Wolter.
